Why Your Practice Can Rank #1 on Google and Still Be the Name an AI Never Gives a Patient
A chiropractic or physical therapy practice can hold the top spot on Google and still never be the name an AI assistant gives a patient asking who treats sciatica or a torn rotator cuff nearby. Ranking and being cited are measurably different systems: classic search still returns a list a patient scans, while ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Perplexity return a synthesized verdict that names a small handful of sources. Healthcare searches are held to a stricter trust bar than most local categories, and the sources these engines lean on hardest, Healthgrades, Zocdoc, WebMD, Vitals, are frequently not the practice's own website. Two different systems, doing two different jobs
