Who we are

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us. That means the information you enter into a form on this site: typically your name, your email address, your website, and any message or context you add. When you request a Machine-Readiness Score, we also read publicly available information about the website you submit, so we can prepare your report. We do not ask for sensitive personal data, and we do not need payment details to send you a free report.

Like most websites, our hosting and any privacy-respecting analytics we use may record basic technical information such as your approximate region, browser type and the pages you view. We keep this to the minimum needed to run and improve the site.

How we use it

We use your information to do the thing you asked us to do: prepare and send your Machine-Readiness Score report, reply to your query, or send you an update if you opted in to hear from us. We use technical information to keep the site fast, secure and working. We do not use your information to make decisions about you by automated means alone.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade your email address. We do not use advertising technology to track you across other websites; the Meta Pixel described below records activity on this site only. We do not send you unrelated marketing you did not ask for. We do not add you to a list without a clear action from you, and every email we send you can be unsubscribed from in the same number of steps it took to sign up.

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers that help us operate, such as our email, hosting and form-handling tools, and only so they can perform that service for us. We require them to protect your information and to use it only for that purpose. We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it. We do not otherwise share your information with third parties.

One of those recipients is Meta. Where the Meta Pixel loads, Meta receives the fact of your visit and standard technical information such as your IP address and browser, and it may combine that with what it already knows about you. That is how advertising measurement on Meta works, and it is the reason the section on cookies below sets out how to turn it off.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to serve you and to keep proper business records, and no longer than that. If you ask us to delete your information, we will, except where we are required to keep a limited record for legal or accounting reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or unsubscribe from our emails at any time. To do any of these, contact us through the contact page and we will act on your request. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local law, and we will honour them.

Cookies

We keep cookies and similar technologies to a minimum. Most of what we use is there to make the site work and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used.

We also use the Meta Pixel, which is advertising technology provided by Meta. It records that you visited pages on this site and reports that to Meta, so that we can measure our advertising and show ads to people who have shown an interest in what we do. That is a form of advertising profiling, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. We do not use it to make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not send Meta the contents of any form you fill in.

If you do not want it, you have three ways to stop it. Your browser or an extension can send a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, and we honour both: the pixel will not load at all. You can block it with any standard content blocker. Or you can adjust what Meta shows you in your own Meta account settings.
